The Community of Windsor

Windsor is located at the epicenter of both Northern Colorado and the “new energy” economy.  Helping make the transition from sugar beets and agriculture as historical primary employers, Danish wind turbine company Vestas selected Windsor for its first Colorado plant.

Windsor’s quaint downtown offers fine dining, social coffee shops and boutique shopping.  The town provides medical services from multiple providers and four full-service hospitals are within 25 minutes driving time. Residents of Windsor enjoy the small town atmosphere, a variety of housing options and a convenient, central location.

Education

Windsor is the headquarters for the Weld RE-4 Windsor/Severance School District. It operates five elementary schools, two middle schools, including Severance Middle School, and Windsor High School. Higher education options are ample in Northern Colorado, including the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College (both in Greeley) and Colorado State University and Front Range Community College (in Fort Collins).

Recreation

Windsor boasts three championship golf courses, an indoor ice rink and soccer complex, a beautiful outdoor pool in its city park, two indoor in-line skating/hockey rinks, water skiing on Windsor Reservoir and easy access to the Poudre River Trail that provide recreational opportunities for residents. And it boasts million-dollar views of Longs Peak and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

Banner Health’s Medical Arts Centre of Windsor provides care for the community. It is affiliated with North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and McKee Medical Center in Loveland. University of Colorado Health and Colorado Health Medical Group have primary care doctors at the Windsor Medical Clinic. University of Colorado Health has hospitals in Fort Collins, Loveland and Children’s Hospital in Denver. Quality specialists in virtually all areas are available within a short drive.

Companies in Windsor provide employment to Northern Colorado residents including Vestas, Tenneco Packaging, CareStream, Universal Forest Products, Front Range Energy, Owens-Illinois and Metal Container Corporation, the latter two which supply the nearby Anheuser-Busch brewery with bottles and cans.
